Beneath the Surface: Unmasking the Secrets of "Ancient"

Beneath the Surface: Unmasking the Secrets of "Ancient"

"The sun dips below the horizon, casting long shadows across the forest floor. The campfire crackles, providing a sense of warmth against the encroaching darkness. But something else is stirring in the woods, something ancient and unsettling. 🌲

In this exclusive excerpt from my YA psychological horror novel, "Ancient," we witness a transformation that sends shivers down the spine. Zack, the seemingly confident and carefree member of the group, begins to exhibit strange behavior. His gestures, his speech, even his priorities seem to shift, leaving his friends bewildered and uneasy."

Excerpt:

"Zack's gestures had changed; he wasn’t the same manly guy everyone thought he was; or the one he was pretending to be. His was now speaking in a high pitch, with perfect pronunciation as a girl with an excellent vocabulary would. The hand gestures increased while speaking; which he otherwise would never do unless very angry. It was the same way his girlfriend used to talk; it was admiration more than attraction towards her. Her eyes were the best things to be starred onto but not as much as his own. He loved his eyes and wouldn’t let anything happen to them. Suddenly, Zack saw a bit of swelling under his eyes. What can it be? He thought. "Guys, I am going to find some water,” Zack said.

Zack started to search for a pond and saw something shining behind the trees and started walking towards it. Dean took out his guitar and started to tune it.

“What are you doing? Put that away and play some songs,” Strub said."

End of Excerpt

What's happening to Zack? What is the mysterious shining object that draws him deeper into the woods? And how will this transformation impact the group's already fragile dynamics?

Between Dreams & Reality: A King Payne Short Story!

"Ever had one of those nights where you're not quite sure what's real and what's a dream?  Today, I'm thrilled to share my previously published story that perfectly captures that hazy, in-between feeling. It's a tale of missed connections, late-night adventures, and the blurred lines between fantasy and reality..." I Should Have Slept That Night It was 10:00 PM. I had just woken up after a long nap, thanks to attending five lectures and a guest lecture. Fortunately, the next day was a holiday. I was feeling famished, and the mess had closed, so I thought of going out for a paratha. I went to Andy’s room and asked if he wanted to join me, but as usual, he wouldn’t leave the campus even if a catastrophe occurred in his room. Damn lazy fellow he was. "Come on, let’s go!” I said. “Why don't you just sleep?” Andy replied. “I haven’t eaten anything; I slept off,” a hungry me said. “Why don’t you just order from Kukkad Wale?” Andy suggested. But the f...

In a world striving for Utopia, where justice is the guiding principle, a young woman grapples with her destiny as 'the chosen one.' But what does it mean to be chosen, and at what cost? Excerpt Chapter 1: The Chosen One She had been taking deep sighs since she woke up this morning. Each eye looking at her was just ascertaining whether she was ready or not. Standing under the shower, she was feeling each drop touching her body, an unknown sense of awareness had aroused inside of her. She closed her eyes while feeling the water massaging her head, opened them, and took another deep sigh. Sitting at the breakfast table was another task which was delaying the act as a chosen one. “Are you ready my dear? ” her mother asked while slightly rubbing the back of her hand. “Yes, ” she responded with assurance in her eyes. “It is a big day, but remember we will be with you all the while, ” the father said. “She will do her duty very well, that’s why everyone has chosen her.
